Diane Schaefer, College counselor, Denver, CO My son is entering his senior year of high school. At a recent visit with his public school guidance counselor, we were presented with a pamphlet and the advice: "Read this, it will tell you everything you need to know about applying to college." Thanks heavens we're already working with Diane Schaefer, an extraordinary private college counselor who's been in the business for years. When she's not traveling around the country visiting schools, she's working out of her Park Hill home with high school students, helping them throughout their final years of secondary education to prepare for and apply to schools that meet their needs. No need to reinvent the wheel on college applications. She's already there! You can contact her at: 1830 Cherry Street Denver, CO 80220 720-291-5915 college_counselor@yahoo.com |

If you're going to eat sweets, do it right. I tell my patients to save those indulgence calories for something really worth it. And today, I found 'it.' I stopped in to Lovely Confections at 1489 Steele St. to see what all the fuss* was about. Well-deserved fuss indeed. Cupcakes with frosting so wonderful it raises the hair on the back of our neck. We tried the coconut and the carrot cake varieties. Out of this world, worth every gram of fat. Lovely Ms. Lovely told me she lies awake at nights worrying about the details of her new business. I'd say she has nothing to worry about; these cupcakes are tops! ____ *Fuss which includes 'Best Cupcakes in Denver' per Westword Magazine. |

"Cool garments for hot women Never a hot flash when you need one. Not in the evening when I sit freezing at my computer, nor when I'm out in the late autumn raking leaves. Mother Nature's little trick seems instead to be hot flashes in the middle of the night that started oh so perfectly cozy in bed. Haralee Weintraub--a breast cancer survivor who knows her way personally around a night sweat--has created 'wick-away sleepwear' to draw the perspiration away from hot sweaty women and out through her good-looking nightwear. Don't assume your child's disinterest in reading is just laziness. I did, and my son's vision problems went undiagnosed until the summer before his senior year in high school! Not a single teacher in 11 years of education ever mentioned a word to me that he might not be reading at grade level efficiency. If you even wonder about your child's ability to scan and comprehend the written word, go right to the experts here in Denver. Call: Dr. Lynn Hellerstein 7180 E. orchard Rd., Ste. 103 Englewood, CO 80111 303-850-9499 The call could change your child's life! |

Don't be vitamin D-ficient! My neighbors walk and garden year round in long-sleeved shirts, hats, long pants (or shorts with high boots). This web-site is dedicated to the proposition that letting a little sunshine in is good for the body as well as the soul. Maps on the home-page correlate colon, ovarian, and breast cancer rates according to the regional incidence in the United States. If you're not living where the sun shines, be sure to take extra vitamin D. Check it out! |
